There are a lot of ways to bike around Big Sky, whether you are looking for a gentle ride on pavement, or a rough-and-tumble downhill ride, Big Sky has a plethora of biking opportunities. Rent bikes from Grizzly Outfitters which is just walking distance to the River Rock Lodge.

Some of our favorite local bike rides include:

Crail Ranch and Golf Course Loop:

This little loop around the golf course to and from the Town Center is a nice gentle ride for a beginner or small kids. Take the spur road trail right from the River Rock Lodge all the way down to the marked crossing at Little Coyote Road. Follow Little Coyote Road past the Community Park on the right, and find the Crail Ranch gravel path on the left that takes you through quiet neighborhoods and the golf course. The trail ends at the west end of Little Coyote, where you take a left onto Two Moons Rd. Follow Two Moons to the designated high way crossing back to the Town Center. A little under three miles, this little tour of the Meadow Village is a nice way to spend a summer morning.

Hummocks / Uplands Loops:

These technical trails are very close to Big Sky's Town Center, making them easy to access for any biker. The Hummocks Trail is a three mile loop, and Uplands is a two mile loop, so these trails can be combined for a longer ride, or ridden separately for a shorter ride. Both trails are technical and have mild inclines and downhills, so proper bikes and gear is recommended. Great for the intermediate rider, we recommend bringing a pack with water and bear spray when enjoying these trails.

Biking Big Sky Resort:

For the skilled downhill biker, Big Sky Resort in the summer has a lot to offer. Ride the lifts up and hit the trails down, a majority of these trails are for experienced mountain bikers only. There are a few for more beginning folks, but a helmet and pads is probably necessary, as well as all the essential gear for an adreline filled ride.
